Prehistoric Farm Fossils & Dr. Ivy’s DNA Lab
Understand the Prehistoric Farm fossil-set requirement, green-zone digging and Dr. Ivy’s egg exchange before moving on to incubation and ranch care.
What does the DNA Lab need?
Project Mirvy says to bring a full set of fossils to Dr. Ivy to grow an egg. Gathering a piece, completing a set and incubating the resulting egg are three different milestones. Check the collection screen to identify which one is missing.
Dig for a defined collection goal
The official digging instruction is to hold down on a dig site with your shovel and release in the green region of the meter. The description calls this a better find; it does not disclose probabilities or a guaranteed rarity. Practice the timing while watching which collection entry receives the result.
Choose one intended set and compare its current count against the actual requirement. This is an editorial organization tip, not a claim that choosing a set changes the random result. If a piece belongs to another creature, keep its collection progress separate.
Before visiting Dr. Ivy
Check whether the intended set is marked complete in your current session. The public listing does not establish one quantity for every species or describe how duplicates are handled. Avoid selling a piece merely because another guide calls it spare: first compare it with the requirement you are actively completing.
If the lab does not accept your collection, inspect its requirement text and your inventory. A total number of fossils across several creatures is not evidence that a particular set is complete. A source-based guide cannot diagnose an undocumented inventory bug from a screenshot-free description.
After obtaining the egg
Inspect the egg that appears and move to the incubator stage. The DNA Lab is the stated egg-production step, not proof that incubation has finished. Read the incubator’s actual placement and collection prompts and follow its displayed time. Continue with eggs, feeding and growth.
The creator also advertises sea reptile eggs in the Sunken Grotto. That is a separate exploration activity; this reference does not assume every such egg uses a normal dig-site fossil set. See exploration for the evidence boundary.
What remains unverified?
We have not verified species recipes, leftover handling, guaranteed rare-find formulas, a complete island map or lab processing times. If your current prompt gives a different requirement, record the game text and date before making another trade.
For a first session, use the beginner sequence. The ranch checklist helps distinguish a ready set from an egg already incubating.
Sources and scope
Based on the official Project Mirvy experience description, checked October 12, 2026. The instructions establish the main loop, not exact prices, drop rates or timers. This is a source-based guide, not an independently tested playthrough.
